Marcus Pierre
President
Marcus Pierre founded Digital Defenders Inc. in July of 2024. The vision for Digital Defenders was born in a college classroom, where Marcus realized the need to better prepare youth for the digital world. With a background in criminal justice and a master’s degree in cybersecurity, Marcus is passionate about equipping the next generation with the tools to navigate the digital world safely. Through its early efforts, Digital Defenders is building a foundation to become a trusted resource for cybersecurity education in local communities.
As an advocate for community education, Marcus combines his expertise in cybersecurity with a commitment to creating impactful learning experiences. He believes in the power of youth as digital advocates and works tirelessly to bridge the gap between technical knowledge and practical application in underserved communities.
Aminah Pilgrim, PhD
Vice President
Dr. Aminah Pilgrim is an accomplished educator, published author, and community leader with more than 20 years of experience in education and youth development. As the Co-Founder and President of SABURA Youth Programs, Inc., she has dedicated more than a decade to creating mentorship opportunities and empowering young people to reach their full potential. She earned her Ph.D. from Rutgers University and her bachelor's degree from Duke University, bringing a strong foundation in education, leadership, and community engagement.
In addition to her community leadership, Dr. Pilgrim serves as an Associate Professor at Berklee College of Music and a Senior Lecturer at UMass Boston. Her passion for education, mentorship, and youth empowerment aligns closely with Digital Defenders' mission to equip young people with the knowledge and skills to thrive safely in an increasingly digital world.
Matthew Francis
Treasurer
Matthew Francis brings expertise in finance, data analytics, and strategic planning to Digital Defenders. With experience leading complex financial analyses, building AI-powered business tools, and supporting executive decision-making, he is passionate about using data to solve problems and drive meaningful impact. His analytical mindset and innovative approach help strengthen the organization's mission and long-term growth.
A Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of South Carolina's Darla Moore School of Business, Matthew has also served as a mentor, teaching assistant, and organizational treasurer. He is committed to using his financial expertise to help expand access to cybersecurity and digital literacy education for students, families, and communities.
Sharice Nazaire
Clerk
Sharice Nazaire brings her excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Drawing from her experience as a Quality Assurance Engineer, Sharice is adept at maintaining precise records and efficiently managing information. In her role, she plays a vital part in organizing agendas, and ensuring that all communication flows smoothly within the organization, allowing Digital Defenders Inc. to maintain transparency and accountability.
Her expertise in managing complex projects and collaborating with teams translates seamlessly into her role. Sharice’s ability to handle detailed tasks with efficiency and precision allows the team to stay focused on its mission of empowering youth through cybersecurity education.
Nicholas Desjardins, MPAS, PA-C
Board Member / Educational Director
Nicholas Desjardins brings a diverse background in healthcare, technology, and youth mentorship to the Digital Defenders Board of Directors. His experience spans clinical care, information technology, and community engagement, giving him a well-rounded perspective on the intersection of technology, education, and public service. His leadership and collaborative approach help support Digital Defenders' mission of empowering young people to navigate the digital world safely and confidently.
Beyond his professional experience, Nicholas has dedicated more than a decade to coaching high school football and mentoring youth both on and off the field. Passionate about education and community impact, he is committed to helping Digital Defenders expand access to digital literacy and cybersecurity resources while fostering a safer and more inclusive online environment for students and families.
